So I just read this article off of someones Twitter and it stunned me.
Read it yourself.

So Facebook is keeping all your stuff even if you delete it. Even if someones posts that picture of you doing your first kegstand on there and you untag it – it will still be there, even if the owner deletes it. I understand that you post your stuff on there but I think you should have the right to remove it at anytime. People grow up and decide the picture of them streaking through to quad won’t look the greatest to future employers – even though it was a good time sophmore year.

It is wild that they can just all the sudden update the contract agreement and not tell you. I would have never known if it wasn’t for my Twitter feed… Uggh.

I have always wondered if this idea was in effect or soon will be – you know how you can mark your profile as to being private and only your friends can see it? I wonder if Facebook will/has sold out to corporate America and offered companies a breach of privacy so they can have unlimited access to whatever profile they wish to see…

It would be a good money making ploy for the site but may cause problems for a lot of its members…

So I was reading today – Michael Phelps was cleared by the IOC after he apologized for the bong picture incident BUT now the tough law officials in South Carolina are going to try to prosecute over it.

“Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told The State newspaper of Columbia, S.C., that he would file charges against Phelps if he determines the swimmer smoked marijuana in the county.”

What a jackass – he is just trying to make a name for himself – get his 15 minutes. Reminds me of the old Monica Lewinsky Scandal… who honestly would save that dress and not even clean in? She got what she wanted in the long run.

In response to the last blog I wrote about Phelps I received this comment via Facebook:

“Jenny the problem is he “says” he’s anti drug… As you said he volunteered to be on the anti team… Our Olympic athletes are by no means perfect but they should represent the best… If he can get away with smoking pot why not have steroids in sports ? The line NEEDS to be drawn somewhere…
Honestly I don’t really care… I do think he’s a douchebag however… Many children look up to him as a role model (as you said) damn the media and their mixed messages !”

My response to this lame argument is:

Well ya see – the difference between pot and steroids is that steroids enhance athletic performance – pot just gives ya the munchies n giggles.

A lot of the countries that compete in the Olympics have legalized marijuana it’s not that big of a deal. Would people in Jamaica frown upon Usain Bolt for smoking? Nope. But in the States – we do because…  Read More the government deems it as illegal.

I am for the legalization all around. From my perspective – if the kid wants to smoke – whatever. If anything smoking could hinder his performance as a swimmer hurting him in the long run. I just think he has gone above and beyond anyone’s expectations in sports and maybe it just happened too fast. He has so much responsibility on his shoulders with the title that he carries I could understand how it would just be overwhelming and I could see how he would just want to break loose for awhile…

He is only 23, people make mistakes – his only mistake was getting his picture taken.

If only people would have listened to Bob Marley:
“Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I’m not perfect and I don’t live to be. But, before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean.”

So a picture of Michael Phelps smoking out of a bong surfaced and apparently it is a big deal. I guess I just don’t see it.

The man (kid) is 23 – he is living his life – he passed all of the drug tests at the Olympics – that is that. He even voluenteered to be on the anti-doping team or whatever it was called. I see how people could be upset because he is a idol/role model for many. I guess though since I am a liberal especially when it comes to the topic of pot that he is a human just like the rest of us.

He is 23, old enough to make his own decisions. I don’t understand how this could hinder his future with the Olympics. He is not is season – it is not a performance enhancing drug – it’s not really that big of a deal what he does is his own spare time. Marion Jones – this was a terrible hit to the sport of track and field – steroids are a performance enhancing drug, those are a big deal, what happened to her was unfortunate BUT in that instance – it was the right course of action.

I would love to meet the jackass that decided to take this picture in the first place.

It’s ridiculous that we elect the leaders of our country the have a history of drug usage but when one of our finest athletes goes to a party and lets loose – we hit the witch hunt trail.
